Chapter 71 (cont'd)
Quote by Alexandra Penney- "The ultimate test of a relationship is to disagree but to hold hands."
Simmy woke up from a lovely dream. She ground the beans and got the coffee on before she checked her email. Her best friend had sent her a quote of the day from her company 'e-mag.' Who was Alexandra Penney?
Google... "Oh!" (Surprise!) "Ohhh," (Sensual? ), and "Oh-" (Respectful )
She quickly phoned Penelope to share her dream...
"Bonjour!"
"Penelope, you cannot use your prophetic gift like that! You have to pretend like you don't have a clue what I'm going to tell you so I still feel like telling you. OH!" Simmy was mad.
"I'm sorry, ma cherie, do tell!" Penelope was pushing her buttons. "I'm only clarifying things for you!"
Simmy pouted and then started to tell her 'dream...'
"Sam and I were in some strange city. 'Someone' was showing us around and took us to an eatery which seemed to be extremely popular. There was a line-up to buy this odd dessert. A tiny older woman, who did seem French," Simmy corroborated sulkily, "was stirring what looked like, 'phyllo pastry,' almonds, and honey into a kind of loose airy dessert. She was making this in a stainless steel bowl over a small flame, I think. The concoction looked caramelized."
Penelope said, "Go on!"
"Well, after she put some of this into a waxed parchment kind of envelope, somebody else plopped a chocolate chip cookie on top of the Phyllo dessert but still in the envelope!"
Penelope laughed. "So, what does this mean to you?"
"Well, I saw the tag for the scarf that my son and his wife gave me sitting on the counter when I got up this morning. And I had been 'bothered' by the name... you know how I always check the meaning of names. So, I'm calling the little French woman 'Fila- for the Latin, 'to love strength' and Tess- for the Greek, 'harvester.'
"Anything else?" Penelope was laughing good naturedly but with encouragement.
"Oh yes," Simmy gushed. "It was the chocolate chip cookie that really bothered me... Sam loves chocolate chip cookies but there had to be a 'deeper' meaning. It seemed like an Old Testament manna being mixed with a modern day 'chocolate chip cookie.' The cookie was placed on top," Simmy replayed the dream.
"And," Penelope prodded.
"Oh, yes, so I checked to see where the chocolate chip cookie originated. It is suggested that Ruth Wakefield of Massachusetts developed it at her Toll House Inn."
"There's some homemade goodness," Penelope quipped. "What else?"
"Well, the little French woman hugged me and said, 'I'm so proud of you!'"
"That is a sweet dream," Penelope punned.
