Serving son

Chapter 66 (cont'd)
Simmy asked young glazier to bring some  dinner to his shut-in grand-parents. He agreed, showered and picked up the tray to deliver the meals.
"Should I add flowers?" Simmy asked her youngest son.
"Why?" He asked innocently, yet dismissively, not feeling they were a necessity.
"Well, Grandpa was very depressed the other day when your Dad spoke to him. When there's not too much to enjoy in your life, you need some beauty." Simmy added some of the sweet peas that had been picked the day before.
"Thanks for driving this over," Simmy said.
After Simmy sent young glazier off to bless his grandparents Sam asked groggily, "Did you send food to my parents?"Sam was feeling under the weather.
"Yes!"
"Thank you," Sam said.
"You're welcome," Simmy responded.
There is nothing sweet about old age when the going is really tough, thought Simmy. Medical this, medical that, wheelchairs, drivers' license revoked, shut-in status... Sigh!
