'Steed' in Tweed

Chapter 69
Espionage Novel- Chapter 1
It was 10:09 on Friday morning and Simmy had already made coffee, dashed off morning ablutions and...
Ding Dong...
Who could be at the door? I've only been out of bed for twenty minutes. Her curiosity got the better of her.
She peeked through the window of her front door,...
doesn't seem to know I'm studying him...
Golly, he looks like a throw-back from the 1940's...
A mini hounds-tooth trench coat... did those trousers match the coat?...
Judging by his age... an original outfit... pressed and ironed into a brittle sheen,...
Briefcase... old, very old,... older than Methuselah,
Simmy got the feeling that he wasn't as harmless as his sixty or seventy -plus years suggested...
She saw him take out a J.W. pamphlet?
Even then, Simmy felt 'not quite safe' as she decided in that moment what to do.
She kept her door on 'lock' status, poked her head out for just a moment...
"Hello," he spoke in a "Steed from The Avengers" formed friendliness, dragging out the 'O'.
Simmy moved her body deliberately behind the door to suggest that she was naked.
"I'm sorry, I've only just gotten up..." she hoped her voice sounded 'weak' enough.
Judging from the elder gentleman's' reaction, he might actually be just trying to deliver a J.W. pamphlet, Simmy thought.
He started apologizing, as a true gentleman would, if he thought he'd caught a lady in her skivvies.
Simmy closed the door on his stuttering and tried to spot a car that would indicate that he really was only a J.W. advocate. She couldn't see one. Not a good sign!
Trust your instincts, girl!
She waited until he walked away from the neighbors' back door before going outside to get the cat... who was raising quite a ruckus in the gazebo.
