Beware!

Chapter 71 (cont'd)
Just as Simmy hung up the phone with Penelope,...
Deborah called.
She seemed breathless as the words came tumbling out of her mouth... "There's a white dog in the neighborhood. If you go biking or roller-blading today, you be careful! He went after me this morning and there's a young woman who always jogs and she told me that the dog went after her yesterday."
"What did you do when he 'went for you'?" Simmy asked.
"I went straight towards him... I saw a show once that said if you scare them more than they're scaring you, they'll back down. It was actually about bears but I figure, an animal is an animal."
Simmy walked outside as she was talking and Sam had just come home from work and was listening in on the conversation. He walked over to the wood pile and picked a stick.
As Simmy hung up, Sam asked,"Going after the women, is it? Is this stick big enough?"
"I just want it big enough so I don't have to let the dog get too close before I clobber him."
Sam chuckled, "Still got the scar from the German Shepherd that bit you when you were driving the little Honda 50?"
"Yep! Good reminder to carry a stick!"
"Didn't your brother Aaron go give that 'German Shepherd' some old-fashioned justice?"
"He did hop on that mini-bike when I came home crying, vowing retribution."
"How old were you then?" Sam asked.
"At least 8 or 9 years," Simmy recalled.
"Well, if your memory is longer than this stick, I feel sorry for the dog," Sam grinned.
